JOÃO C. SOUSA
João C Sousa is a composer from Oporto with grat interest in the creation of music and the audiovisual universe.
Since childhood João has made and recorded his music. As a teenager he participated as a keyboard player in a few pop garage bands. By this time he studied piano in the Porto School of Jazz. A few years later, already as an adult, he dedicated himself to studying the cello in the Maia Music Conservatory.
Throghout his life, João C Sousa has had the oportunity to compose for cinema and advertising. In 2005 he was presented with the prise for "New Creators '05", in the category of musical composition. In 2007 he composed the score for João Trambulo's feature film "Sombras - Um Filme Sonâmbulo", about the poet Teixeira de Pascoaes' multifaceted universes.
In 2013 he signed with the IIIrd International Cinema Festival (CINECOA) to score their advertising spot and the "3 Mini" exhibition in the "Maschine of Times". Two years later, he composed the score for the promotional video for Júlio Aires' photography book, "6:30 a.m.".
Self professed music lover, he maintains the love for untouchable figures such as Bach, Purcell, Rameau, [...] Laurie Anderson, John Lurie, Jeff Buckley, Kraftwerk, Einstürzende Neubauten, Swans, Depeche Mode, Coil, ou os portugueses Noiserv, Clã, Madredeus and Mão Morta.
He still dreams to one day be able to compose for theatre, video games and other artits/bands.
